Dear Olympics Trials Announcers
These are triathletes. They are swimming, biking, and running nearly to the point of exhaustion or collapse. They are the best in our country, which makes them among the best in the world; they are competing for a spot on a global stage. I promise you, every one of them could take you out in a fair fight before you even realized what was happening.

So for the love of little green apples, can you please not call them girls?!

Current Mood: pissed off

Stupid Americans
I forgot the BEST STORY about flying into Mexico. While we were waiting in line to get through customs, the woman behind me said to her husband, "What did you put down for nationality?"

"American?" he said.

"Oh, that's smart," she said.

"What? What did you put down?" said her husband.

"I put down Italian / Irish," she said.

Wide-eyed, both her husband and I tried to explain that this was a very serious error. "Whaddaya mean?" she said. "That's my nationality!"

"What does your passport say?" I said.

"American," she acknowledged.

"That's your nationality," I said. "The other is your ancestry. You need new customs forms."

Twenty minutes later, we passed by her arguing in broken Spanish with the customs agent, while she was trying to say that it should be OK if she just crossed it out and wrote in "American" instead. Because Customs officials are really inclined to informality.

Viva Laughlin!
Anybody hear about a little show called Viva Laughlin? From Wikipedia:

"Viva Laughlin is a mystery drama musical about businessman Ripley Holden, whose ambition is to run a casino in Laughlin, Nevada. . . Ripley has invested all his money into opening a casino that is nowhere near completion, when his financing suddenly falls through. Ripley approaches his rival, wealthy casino owner Nicky Fontana, for help. Ripley becomes embroiled in a murder investigation after the body ofhis ex-business partner is found at his club."

They left a key part of the premise out of all the trailers, tho:

Ah CBS, what hast thou wrought. I can't believe this was cancelled after only two episodes.
